Fireplaces that earn their keep
An insert drops into the masonry fireplace you already have and turns it from a drafty hole into a heat source. A built-in gas fireplace goes where there was never one at all.

An insert fixes the fireplace you already have
Most masonry fireplaces lose more heat up the chimney than they put into the room. An insert seals that opening, burns gas behind glass and pushes the heat back out where you are sitting.
It is the single most common thing we do for people in older Upstate homes, and it does not require rebuilding anything.

Built-in fireplaces for a wall that has none
If you are building, adding on or finishing a basement, a direct-vent fireplace can go almost anywhere there is an outside wall. Traditional or clean and linear, depending on the room.
Come look at the linear unit we keep burning on the floor. It reads very differently in person than it does in a brochure.

Glass doors close an open fireplace off
If you are keeping the fireplace woodburning, a set of glass doors is the cheapest thing you can do about the draft. Closed, they stop the room from going up the chimney between fires. Open, you still get the fire.
